South African celebrities we would cast in ‘Oceans 8’ movie
Friday 22 June marks the day that South Africans will be able to watch Hollywood blockbuster, Ocean’s 8, in cinemas for the first time
The film boasts an all-star cast, including the likes of Rihanna, Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock among others.
However, we’re pretty confident that several South African stars could have made the roster for one of the biggest films of the year.
We decided to have some fun and we’ve picked 8 leading local women who could be trusted to pull off the heist of a lifetime.
Debbie Ocean – Pearl Thusi
Played by Sandra Bullock in the original, Debbie Ocean is the mastermind with an eye for revenge. Pearl Thusi is the queen of calculated moves and her appetite for success gives us the confidence that she could be the brains behind our big operation.
Lou – DJ Zinhle
Lou (played by Cate Blanchett) is one of the most important characters in the movie.
She’s in charge of recruitment and is Debbie’s best friend. There’s only one woman whose judgement is sound enough for this role: Pearl Thusi’s real-life best friend, DJ Zinhle.
Daphne Kluger – Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters
The Ocean’s 8 target the Met Gala in the film. Meaning you need at least one member of your crew to be give you red-carpet presence and help you slide in and out without detection.
Anne Hathaway plays the role of Daphne in the film, but we think Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters could do the job!
Nine Ball – Rouge
Nine Ball is already a fan-favourite. It could have something to do with the fact that her role is acted out by Rihanna, but this computer wiz looks like she’ll be the secret weapon we need to pull off the heist.
We think Rouge, who is one of the smartest celebs in the game, would be her perfect counterpart.
